The city of Buenos Aires
"City nightlife doesn't kick off until midnight, when young people can be found in bars and clubs dancing, showing off their finery and staying up until dawn."
Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina, the 7th largest country in the world. It is an energetic and seductive port city, which stretches south-to-north along the Rio de la Plata and has been the gateway to Argentina for centuries. "Porteños", as the natives of Buenos Aires are known, possess an elaborate and rich cultural identity. They value their European heritage highly. Italian and German names outnumber Spanish names and the lifestyle and architecture are markedly more European than any other in South America. One of the world's finest opera houses, the "Teatro Colon", flourishes here on the plains alongside the river. "Porteños" are intensely involved in the life and culture of their city, and they will gladly share the secrets of Buenos Aires if you lend an ear and relate your own stories in return.
So why visit Argentina? The huge metropolis of Buenos Aires is one of the most exciting, charming and fascinating of all South American capitals. It's an immensely enjoyable place just to wander about, stopping off for an espresso or an ice cream, or people-watching, or shopping, or simply soaking up the unique atmosphere. Its many barrios, or neighbourhoods, are startlingly different, some decadently old-fashioned, others very modern, but all of them oozing character. Added to that, Buenos Aires is the country's gastronomic centrepiece and boasts a frenzied nightlife that makes it one of the world's great round-the-clock cities.
Add to this, the Andes, Patagonia and its glacial region, the huge Iguazú falls, gauchos, skiing in the southern lake district and not to mention miles of beaches to the south of Buenos Aires and you've got a very interesting location to explore.

The EBC TEFL course training centre
All EBC International TEFL certificate courses in Buenos Aires are given in our purpose built, training centre in the heart of Buenos Aires.
Our international TEFL certificate course training centre (photo on the left) is in the fashionable Recoleta district of Buenos Aires.
Recoleta is considered to be on of the finest and most expensive areas of the city. It boasts many French style buildings, large green spaces and first class restaurants. The EBC TEFL training centre building follows the French architectural style. The rooms in the centre have 12 foot high ceilings.
The district of the Recoleta is considered not only a site of deep historical interest but also the most glamorous neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. Within a few blocks of each other there are many art galleries, parks, fairs, museums, bars and excellent restaurants.
This area is the most fashionable place in Buenos Aires to visit (and study in). Within the area is the Cementario de la Recoleta, Eva Peron's final resting place. Along with Evita's much-visited grave, there is Our Lady of the Pilar Church, the Cultural Centre, and the Palais de Glace. The Palais de Glace is known for art exhibitions and for its historic contribution to tango, having hosted many famous tango dancers, composers and musicians in the early days of tango. You can then walk along the Pilar, which brims with a wide variety of restaurants and venues featuring live music every night.
All in all, Recoleta is one of the finest cultural centres in Buenos Aires full of parks, art galleries, museums, French influenced architecture and great places to eat out and party the night away.
The main EBC International TEFL Certificate course training area is air conditioned and we also have a sunny patio area where you can sit outside and relax. The centre has 3 additional rooms and a coffee area with sofas and easy chairs where you can do your course work. There is centre-wide WIFI so, if you bring your WIFI ready PC, you can work anywhere in the centre with free, broadband internet access.

Argentina is still a great favourite for EFL teachers and it is rapidly regaining its status as the most prestigious country in South America. Tourism and foreign investment are booming.
So far, all students that have studied with EBC and then wanted to stay on and work in Buenos Aires have done so.
- Buenos Aires has the greatest demand for native English teachers in the whole of Argentina.
- EBC is always being asked for teachers by language schools as early as the first week of a new course.
- EBC graduates have usually found work within a week of finishing the course at full market rates.
It is, however, almost impossible to organize a job in Buenos Aires before going there. Language schools have become stricter, and most will now demand a TESOL TEFL qualification and/or some teaching experience. In addition, almost all schools will expect to interview you face-to-face before making a job offer.
This is one good reason to choose EBC.
We have direct contacts with over 250 local language schools. We ensure that your CV/resume is available to potential employers on the last day of the course which
should then result in interviews and job offers.
